A BID to steal a quadbike in the middle of the day has been labelled “fairly bold” by police.

An investigation has been launched after two men were spotted trying to steal the vehicle near Innerwick on Sunday afternoon.

The men then made off in a white Ford Transit style van with blacked out windows.

Sergeant Scott Nicolson encouraged members of the public to come forward with any information relating to the incident, which took place at about 2pm.

The officer said: “This was a fairly bold attempt to steal this quad in the middle of the day and someone may well remember seeing this van in the Innerwick area on Sunday afternoon.

"Anyone who remembers seeing any suspicious activity in and around the Innerwick or Dunbar area on Sunday should contact the police.

"Please remember to remain vigilant for suspicious vehicles around farms and rural properties and report any concerns to police.

“We would also remind people who live in our rural communities to ensure that their homes, workplaces and belongings are secure."

Anyone with information should contact Police Scotland on 101 and quote incident 2630 of July 8.
