A MUSSELBURGH man has been banned from entering the town's Brunton Hall after a series of incidents involving council employees.

Stephen Dixon, 28, Eskside West, has been handed an interim antisocial behavious order (ASBO) which also prevents him from shouting, swearing or behaving in an aggressive manner towards any member of staff working in East Lothian Council offices.

The ASBO was issued by Edinburgh Sheriff Court after the local authority presented a dossier of alleged incidents involving Mr Dixon, including claims he shouted and swore at staff and public visitors in the Brunton on a number of occasions.

It was also alleged he made several abusive calls to council staff causing them distress and alarm.

The terms of the ASBO prohibits Mr Dixon from entering the Brunton Hall, unless attending for a previously arranged appointment.

A council spokesperson said: “Mr Dixon behaved in an antisocial manner on a number of occasions at the Brunton Hall.

"The council has a responsibility to ensure that all of its employees work within a safe environment and will take robust action when employees face abusive and/or aggressive behaviour.

"Mr Dixon’s actions and verbal outbursts have caused considerable distress and alarm not only to staff within the Brunton Hall but also to visitors.”
