TWO gins with county links are in the running for top prizes at the prestigious Scottish Gin Awards.

NB Gin, which has already claimed several prizes since it was first created by husband-and-wife Steve and Viv Muir five years ago, is nominated in the London Dry Gin of the Year category.

At the second annual awards, Mr and Mrs Muir will hope that their product can scoop the prize at the second time of asking – they were in the running for the same category last year but did not place in the top three.

Alongside them is Wild Island Botanic Gin Distillers Cut, from Colonsay Beverages.

Chris Nisbet, from Humbie, David Johnston, of Athelstaneford, and Keith Bonnington, who comes from Longniddry, launched the product towards the end of 2016.

Colonsay Brewery is also in the running for the Growth Business of the Year, while NB Distillery is one of three aiming to take the top prize in the Exporter of the Year category.

The Scottish Gin Distillery of the Year award is the evening’s top prize and that will be announced at the ceremony, which takes place in Glasgow on September 20.
