If I was picking the team for Sunday’s game I think that I would be going for Moussa Dembele leading the line and Craig Gordon in goal.

I think it will be a close call between Dembele and Griffiths and I thought that Griffiths looked quite fresh when he come and scored the winner against Hamilton Accies last Sunday.

However, for me Dembele just edges it going into these games. He has so much power and aggression when he is on his game and I think he might get the nod to start.

That isn’t to say that the two of them might not end up on the pitch at the same time. In last season’s semi-final they featured together in the second period to great effect and you would never rule out a change of plan as the game goes on, albeit that they won’t start together.

As for the goalkeeping situation, if Gordon is fit then I would play him. Again, and I know I say this often but if Brendan Rodgers is watching them train day-in, day-out then he will know where they are but it is Gordon’s experience for me in a game like this that would swing it.

As for the game itself, what you do have to say is that if Celtic go out and play to their full potential then they should walk off the pitch having put themselves into the Scottish Cup final and within touching distance of a back-to-back treble.

But football doesn’t always work like that. When the dust settled on the last game at Ibrox I did wonder whether the nature of the result and the manner in which Celtic twice came back from chasing the game to win it would have knocked the psychological stuffing out of Rangers.

Last weekend, however, would have given Rangers a lift with the result they had over Dundee and I think they’ll see this game as the last throw of the dice for them this season.

It is all or nothing for them in a number of ways; there is the chance to salvage something of their season by giving themselves the opportunity to get to the final and win a bit of silverware and then there is also the added incentive of stopping Celtic winning another Treble and making it another historic season.

So this is a game where really so much of their season rests. There will be a full on directive to go and win at all costs but what you would have to say is that if you analyse both teams then Celtic have the stronger side.

If they go out and play the way they can then you would expect them to win it.

It is Hampden without either side having the benefit of a huge home support and it will be interesting to see how both teams go about it.

The other decision for Rodgers to make is whether or not he sticks with Kristoffer Ajer whom I think has done remarkably well since coming into the team or whether he reverts to the partnership of Jozo Simunovic and Dedryck Boyata.

These are the calls that will have dominated the thoughts of the manager this week in the build-up to the game. Ultimately, though, whatever team goes onto the pitch on Sunday has enough to come through. The last thing you need in a game like this, however, is any kind of complacency which I am sure you can bet against where Rodgers’ is concerned.
