AN ENORMOUS Easter egg which is currently adorning the window of a Musselburgh shop is being raffled to raise funds for St Columba’s Hospice in Edinburgh.

Elaine Di Rollo, who runs the family ice cream shop on Bridge Street, was one of three businesses in Scotland lucky enough to receive one of the eight-kilogram eggs from a Belgian chocolate maker.

After packaging and decorating the colossal confectionery with flowers and ribbons, she is now hoping that it will make someone’s Easter ‘egg-stra special’ and help raise cash for charity at the same time.

“I’ve not see an Easter egg that big,” said Elaine, who stocks handmade Belgian chocolates in her shop.

She said that she decided to make it a tasty raffle prize to raise funds for St Columba’s Hospice, which has helped people she knows.

The charity provides end-of-life care and support to those in Edinburgh and the Lothians who need help.

It aims to create a welcoming and friendly environment, making people as comfortable as possible, whether they are in the hospice, their homes or visiting the day therapies.

Raffle tickets, which are available from the shop priced £1 each, are selling well.

The draw will take place next Saturday (March 31), the day before Easter Sunday, at 3pm.
