A TENANT has been evicted from her home in Dunbar after alleged anti-social behaviour.
Despite having been made the subject of an Anti-social Behaviour Order (ASBO) on June 15 last year, East Lothian Council and Police Scotland continued to receive reports of anti-social behaviour taking place at Chithara Coetzee’s home on Ash Grove.
Now the local authority has evicted the 30-year-old woman after an order was granted at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on February 23.
Officers from the local area east housing team worked alongside members of the safer communities team in collating the evidence that led to the eviction order being granted.
A spokeswoman for East Lothian Council said: “The council will take robust action against those tenants who breach their tenancy agreement by behaving anti-socially.
“The ultimate sanction of applying for the repossession of a tenant’s property was considered proportionate in this case in light of the ongoing complaints.
“It is hoped that this court order will send out a strong message to all council tenants who choose to behave in an anti-social manner.”
