AN AWARD-WINNING chef who previously worked at a Michelin Star restaurant in Glasgow has a new venture in East Lothian.

John Paul ‘JP’ McLaughlin has gone into partnership with Malcolm Duck in a move that will see Ducks Inn, Aberlady, re-branded John Paul At Ducks Inn.

Mr McLaughlin, 45 has spent time working under the likes of Gordon Ramsay and Martin Wishart before moving to the Garden County and working at the Macdonald Marine Hotel in North Berwick.

There he ran John Paul at the Marine for three years, during which time he won Hotel Chef of the Year at the Scottish Hotel Awards in 2012.

Now he is teaming up with Mr Duck at the Aberlady venue on Main Street.

Mr Duck said: “JP’s coming in as a partner. It is fantastic to have JP here.”

Mr McLaughlin, who will continue to run JP’s Deli on North Berwick High Street, said he was hugely looking forward to the venture.

He said: “I thought it was a great opportunity to oversee a restaurant. I’m looking forward to getting started.

“We’re going to have a menu which is appealing to all shapes and sizes, and all clientele. It has to be a menu that everybody can be happy with.”

The new venture has an official launch in April.
