A MAN has been arrested after fire broke out in a ground floor flat on a street in Haddington.
Firefighters battled for an hour to bring the blaze under control after they were called to Carlyle Gardens just before 3pm yesterday.
Police said a 37-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with the incident and is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday.
Fire crews from Haddington and East Linton were called to the street to tackle the fire.
A police spokesperson said: "A 37-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with a wilful fire-raising incident at an address in Carlyle Gardens, Haddington.
"The incident happened shortly before 3pm on Thursday, February 8. The man will appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday, February 12.”
