A £1,000 dirt bike stolen while its teenage owner was fighting for his life in hospital has been found damaged and dumped on a beach.

The bike was bought by 14-year-old Reece Glass after he saved his birthday money.

But as the teenager was in hospital battling sepsis, following surgery on his foot, thieves struck at the family home in Wallyford.

Reece's gran Sylvia Glass told the Courier the bike had been found dumped on the beach at Prestonpans and badly damaged.

East Lothian Courier:

She said it had been thrown in the water and attempts made to set the petrol tank on fire.

Sylvia said: "Unfortunately his bike has been found vandalised at Prestonpans beach."

Police are appealing for help tracing those responsible for the theft which happened on Saturday night.
