AN ASDA lorry ended up on top of a roundabout following a dramatic incident in the early hours of this morning.

Police were called to Old Craighall Roundabout shortly after 1am after the delivery lorry jackknifed ending up with its back end on the grassy centre circle and front wedged across two lanes.

And they released the dramatic image of the stricken vehicle on social media.

The Old Craighall exit, which links the A1 with Edinburgh City Bypass was closed for several hours following the incident.

Police said a man has been charged in connection with the incident.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said:  "Police Scotland can confirm that a 46-year-old man has been charged in connection with careless driving following a road traffic collision at Old Craighall Roundabout.

"The road was closed for approximately three and half hours to allow for recovery.

"Local diversions were put in place and members of the public are thanked for their patience.

"A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal."
