AN INVESTIGATION is under way after a report of hare coursing on a farm near Garvald.
The incident, which took place on December 20, is believed to have involved a group of four men and a number of dogs at Papple Farm.
The four men were using a silver Subaru Forrester and inquiries are ongoing to trace the men involved in the incident, which took place at about 3.30pm.
Constable Andy Loughlin, wildlife crime officer for the Lothians and Scottish Borders, said: "Hare coursing is a barbaric practice, which puts the animal in great distress prior to it being killed.
"These offences will not be tolerated and anyone who can help us identify those responsible for this incident should contact police immediately."
Anyone with information can contact Police Scotland via 101 and quote incident number 2216 of December 20.
