TRIBUTES have been paid to an Ormiston translator and teacher who died in a road collision in Midlothian.

Rodica Pamphilon, 46, was travelling south on the A68 in her Ford Fiesta on Friday, August 5, when it was involved in a collision with a Land Rover Discovery Sport, near the Cousland Junction.

Mrs Pamphilon, who was originally from Romania, where she worked as an English teacher, came to Scotland 13 years ago and worked as a translator and interpreter.

She had a keen interest in storytelling and was involved with the Scottish Storytelling Centre.

Michael Williams, who runs a story coaching group at the centre, which Rodica joined, paid tribute to her, saying: "She was an integral part of our storytelling family and we will miss her dearly.

"Our hearts go out to her husband Joe, her family, and her many friends both here in Scotland and in her native Romania."

Mrs Pamphilon's family said in a statement: "Rodica was a loving and gentle woman who was loved by so many.
"We are devastated by her loss in such a tragic way. She will be so dearly missed."
Inquiries into the full circumstances surrounding this collision are ongoing and anyone with information that can assist Road Policing Officers with their investigation is asked to come forward.
