SHOPS and residences in Haddington have lost power after a fault in the electricity network.

Businesses including banks, shops,and The Courier office were all left with no power after it went out at 2.30pm.

Some supplies were restored in just over an hour with the Court Street premises power returned.

An automated message from Scottish Power Energy Networks said a fault had caused widespread disruption in the EH41 area.

It said: "This has been caused by a fault in the network and is affecting a significant number of customers in a widespread area.
"Our emergency teams have been called and we expect your power to be returned by about 4.45pm today."
