The first two Syrian refugee families arrived in East Lothian this week.
The families are being housed in accommodation in the Musselburgh area, which the council said had been furnished to the same standard as its temporary accommodation.
The families, who are made up of nine people in total, also received "welcome packs" from East Lothian Welcomes Refugees who provided provisions and toys for the children along with welcome messages from people across East Lothian.
East Lothian Council has agreed to home up to seven Syrian refugee families annually over the next five years in a bid to help ease the crisis caused by conflict.
A spokesperson for the council said a large number of staff had worked to co-ordinate the re-settlement of the first two families, who arrived in the county on Tuesday.
They said: "Special mention should be made of the work on the day of Robert Gilmour from Transportation as well as Amanda Wells and Janette Middlemass from the Tenancy Support Team , whose efforts in greeting and then settling the families down before transporting them to East Lothian, was critical to the day’s success.
"As a result when the refugees were settling down for their first night in Scotland we left nine people who were certainly tired, and probably still a little concerned about their futures, but who were clearly moved by the warmth of the reception they had received.
"The council continues to be overwhelmed by offers of assistance and would like to thank East Lothian Welcomes Refugees for their continued support and assistance."
