THE formation of a core path between Gullane and Drem will be discussed at a public meeting on Wednesday.

It has been nine years since the original public consultations on the path took place and the campaign has been backed by walkers, joggers, cyclists and horse riders, who are keen on a safe route between the two villages.

The public meeting, which takes place in Gullane Village Hall, 7,30-8.30pm, will allow the Drem-Gullane path campaign to provide an update on what has been happening since its meeting in July and hear the views of attendees on what to do next.

Iain Monk, campaign spokesperson, said: “It is nine years since the original public consultations on a core path between Gullane and Drem.

“In the last two years we have attracted widespread support for our campaign. The response from the local community has been fantastic.

“Families, walkers, joggers, cyclists and horse riders have backed us and made clear that they want to be able to get safely from Drem to Gullane, away from the busy and dangerous main road.

“Next week’s meeting is a hugely important milestone and we hope that lots of people come along to Gullane Village Hall to ensure their views are heard.” For more information on the campaign, email dgcore path@gmail.com or follow the group on Twitter at @dgcorepath
