A SCHOOLBOY from Prestonpans who used his love of art to raise nearly 30,000 for the Sick Kids' Hospital in Edinburgh was honoured at the Pride of Britain Awards last night.

Jack Henderson, seven, was named Child Fundraiser of the Year for his world-famous campaign 'Jack Draws Anything', launched last March.

Although Jack and his family left East Lothian in September to begin a new life in San Francisco, they returned to the UK this week to attend the star-studded ceremony at London's Grosvenor House, and were joined by royalty, the Prime Minister and many famous faces from TV, film and sport.

Founded in 1999 in partnership with the Daily Mirror, ITV and Lidl the annual awards aim to honour the UK's unsung heroes. Jack, who lives with his parents Ed and Rose and little brothers Noah and Toby, has also been delighted by the creation of a new toy, inspired by one of his colourful drawings.

Brazilian company Rabisquedo offered to turn one of Jack's many drawings into a toy to mark the publication of the book 'Jack Draws Anything' in Brazil.

However the company kept which doodle they had chosen a surprise, leaving Jack with no idea they had chosen a drawing of him for inspiration.

After seeing himself in toy form, Jack said: "Thank you very much for making my toy, I like the shape and colours, it looks just like my drawing."

He and his parents are now discussing the possibility of making a line of toys based on Jack's drawings with the company.
