Whether it's a hedgehog, dinosaur, or a rubber duck, no commission is beyond the talents of six-year-old artist Jack Henderson - who is putting pen to paper to help out the hospital which cares for his sick baby brother.

The enterprising youngster has invited people to request a drawing from him, which he will then produce and send to them. In return, he kindly asks for a donation to Edinburgh's Sick Kids Hospital, where his one-year-old brother Noah is a regular visitor.

Cockenzie Primary School pupil Jack's website, jackdrawsanything.com, went live at 10am on Monday, and less than six hours later had beaten his original target of £100.

Jack's delighted dad, Ed, told the Courier: "Jack was just doing some drawing last week when he had the idea to do some drawing to make some money.

"We all chatted about it and eventually decided to do it for charity.

"Noah has been in and out of hospital since he was about three months old with chest problems, bronchitis and the like. Every time he gets a sniffle he has to go into hospital and he can be there for about a week.

"Jack always gets upset when his wee brother is in hospital, worrying that he is going to die.

"So this is his way of saying thank you to the Sick Kids for caring for Noah so well." Moments after the site went live, donations were flooding in, and not just from family members either.

"It was only live for a few hours and the site made £105," Ed said.

"We got a few donations from family friends but also a few from strangers, who were just touched by him doing something to do with the Sick Kids. There were people in Glasgow who said they liked the idea and gave him £50!" That meant Jack was in for a busy week of drawing in his spare time to get the pictures to people who had made donations, and some of them would be a bit different from what he usually draws.

"His favourite things to draw are hedgehogs and anything to do with Doctor Who," Ed explained.

"But now he has dinosaurs, rainbows, dogs and cats, all sorts to do. He's been drawing ever since he was really small and he just loves doing it." Jack has now decided to try and raise £500, after he was eventually persuaded that his original plan to raise a million pounds might have been a little too ambitious!

He lives on Struan Wynd, Prestonpans, with his family - which also includes mum Rose and three-year-old brother Toby.
