Robina Borthwick Vowles
BORTHWICK Vowles Robina (Ena) Ena (Robina) McKenzie Borthwick Vowles passed away on Friday, May 5th, three days short of her 98th birthday with Mary at her side. Beloved wife for nearly 50 years of the late Gerald Vowles (Brownsburg, Quebec), cherished mum of Mary (Robin), Gerald (Heather), Alan (Heather) and Bruce (Kim). Much loved granny to Paula, Kathie, Michelle, Scott, Steven, Connor and Brooke, proud great-granny to Will and Sam, loved great-granny (with the magic teeth) to Logan and Scout, and adored DelicEna to Connie and Ottilie. Ena is also survived by her sister-in-law, Marjorie Vowles Brayne and many nieces, nephews and cousins, both here and in Canada. She was a great-great-great-great aunt to some of her extended family and was the last surviving child of George and Mary Borthwick of East Linton. Ena spent 52 years in Canada, then returned to her Scottish roots to be near her daughter and other family members and was a special and much-loved partner of the late Charlie Anderson of Longniddry for 9 years. She was one of the few remaining ATS War Veterans in Scotland. There will be a Celebration of Ena's life on Saturday, June 3rd at 11:30 a.m. at her home church, Prestonkirk, in East Linton, East Lothian, Scotland. Thanks to the staff of Hope Park House, Blairgowrie, where Ena spent nearly 7 years being loved and cared for, entertaining them with her wicked sense of humour and enjoying the marvellous cakes.
