Gold again for Lauren

West Barns athletics star Lauren Peffers added gold at the Scottish Under-23 Athletics Championship to her ever-growing medal collection last Sunday, racing to victory in the 400m.

The 21-year-old scorched across the line with a season's-best time of 56.52 from a field of seven competitors and was delighted to get back to top form after a relatively quiet year.

The young star has been earning plaudits for years, winning gold in the 800m of the Deaflympics as the youngest member of the Great Britain team in 2005, aged 16, and picking up silvers in the same competition in 2009 in both the 400m and 800m. She has also set world records for athletes with a hearing disability in the 800m and 1500m.
