North Berwick 51 Portobello 5

NORTH Berwick continued their impressive home form with nine tries and a half century of points as they thrashed Portobello.

The Capital club made their first trip to Recreation Park in almost three years, Porty’s relegation in 2014/15 having kept the two sides apart ever since.

A flying start from the hosts, and four tries inside the opening quarter, wrapped up a bonus point and took them well clear.

Winger Ben Moffat, centre Liam West, captain Bhrian Buchanan and young half-back Roan Frostwick all touched down.

Things got better for the home side as recent recruit Charlie McLean touched down for the second time in as many games, and Moffat added his second to the ever-growing list of scorers.

Porty did get on the board with a try of their own but tries from Murray West, full-back Connor Johnston and lock Matt Sanderson took NB through the half-century barrier.

Liam West endured a difficult day off the tee, adding only two conversions, while Finlay Graham kicked another.

The Recreation Park club are fourth in East 1, two points off the lead, and visit Corstorphine Cougars, eighth at present, on Saturday.
