A PAIR of East Lothian rugby stars are set for international action later this month.
Both Megan Gaffney, from North Berwick, and Lizzi Musgrove, who lives near Drem, are expected to be among the Scotland Women squad for the second leg of the Rugby Europe Women’s Sevens Trophy.
The pair were part of the squad as Scotland Women won the first event of the summer, in the Czech Republic, with Musgrove winning her first cap for Scotland at any level.
Her first national team appearance came just a year after the University of Edinburgh student started playing the sport, after previously being a track and field athlete.
The prize for the Scots, if they can secure a top-two finish overall, is promotion to the Women’s Grand Prix Series for next year.
The squad will be announced next week, with the county duo likely to be included, barring any last-minute injuries.
Gaffney and Musgrove both took part in a pre-tournament training camp at Oriam in Edinburgh at the weekend.
The second leg of the Rugby Europe Women’s Sevens Trophy takes place next weekend (July 21-23) in Hungary.
