NORTH Berwick rugby ace Harvey Elms will compete in the coveted Hong Kong 10s this week.

Elms, who plays his club rugby for BT Premiership outfit Currie but is from North Berwick, is among the Projex Waterboys squad for the tournament.

Selection for the 21-year-old winger caps a good year, where his form for Currie saw him score 11 tries in the top flight, and earn another cap for the Club International XV.

Elms told Courier Sport he is excited to head out to Hong Kong with the Waterboys – a team made up of players mainly from the BT Premiership.

He said: "I'm really looking forward to the opportunity.

"It's a huge tournament in the 10s game with talent from all over the world so it's exciting to be involved."

The former North Berwick High School pupil admits there is one thing he knows will be drastically different from his usual rigours with Currie....the weather.

Elms added: "It will be a bit of a shock coming from the conditions we have been playing in here recently to hot and humid conditions over there but I'm looking forward to the challenge."

He is also excited to be joining a crop of the top young players in Scotland, and share the experience with two of his Currie team-mates.

"I'm looking forward to playing with players I play against week in week out.

"It's also pretty special to be picked alongside [Currie] teammates Robbie Neilson and Ben Robbins."

They are seeded eighth for the tournament in Hong Kong.
