A TRY by county ace Lewis Carmichael helped Melrose book their place in the BT Cup semi-finals with a win over Heriot's on Saturday.
Carmichael, from North Berwick, scored one of the Borderers' four first-half tries as they sealed a 29-12 win.
While the ex-Scotland U20 ace and Queen Margaret University student Ruaridh Knott look forward to a last-four clash with Stirling County on March 25, there was disappointment for ex-Musselburgh man Michael Maltman, was among the defeated Heriot's side.
It was a busy weekend for Carmichael, as he joined fellow ex-North Berwick man Chris Dean on the pitch for the final 20 minutes for Edinburgh Rugby on Friday evening.
The pair were unable to prevent Edinburgh Rugby falling to a 9-13 loss to Ospreys on Friday evening.
Meanwhile, elsewhere in the BT Cup quarter-finals, a Glasgow Hawks side captained by Tommy Spinks, also from North Berwick, beat Gala 40-12 to book their place in the last four.
The side, coached by Finlay Gillies, will now meet Ayr for a place in the final at BT Murrayfield, after the Millbrae men saw off Jed-Forest.
