SCOTLAND Under-20s lock Callum Hunter-Hill is looking forward to being involved with the side again this season.

The BT National Academy lock, who grew up in Gullane, is currently on loan at London Scottish, but spent three days last week at an U20 training camp in Edinburgh.

The 19-year-old, who won nine caps in his maiden season last year, is “really pleased” to have earned selection among Sean Lineen’s squad again this term.

He said: “I played last season and we will have a good side going into the Six Nations so it will be another good experience.”

Hunter-Hill (pictured above, by Alastair Ross), who turned out for North Berwick as a youngster and has represented Glasgow Warriors this season, is also looking forward to a different role in the squad.

“I’ll be one of the more experienced players this time,” he said.

“It is so good going into the 20s Six Nations and World Cup being able to put your hand up.”

The teenager also reflected on his spell at London Scottish, where he has struck up a rapport with fellow lock and club captain Rory Bartle.

He said: “He is a great guy and we’re going really well together as a partnership. The physicality down here is a lot higher – you’re playing against some big guys – and the skill level is higher as well.”

He admitted the fact a host of his U20 colleagues were also at the Athletic Ground had helped him hit the ground running.

“There’s seven of us all Scottish boys living in the flat, and I know them all really well, so that has definitely helped and it has been great so far.”

The teenager also hailed the side for their efforts in the New Year’s Day win over Rotherham Titans.

The Exiles scored five tries in the 36-17 victory., and Hunter-Hill added: “It was brilliant to be able to play some really good rugby in some horrendous conditions.”
