COUNTY rugby ace Callum Hunter-Hill made his first appearance for Glasgow Warriors recently, as they thrashed Canada A.

Hunter-Hill, from North Berwick, lined up in the back-row for Gregor Townsend's side as they ran riot at Stirling County's Bridgehaugh, scoring nine tries to win 63-0 against an inexperienced Canadian outfit.

The 6ft 6in 19-year-old was joined in the team by new Fijian scrum-half Nemia Kenatale, who crossed for a try early on and Scotland caps Lee Jones and Peter Murchie, who captained the side.

Hunter-Hill wore the number six jersey at Bridgehaugh, where just three days earlier, he captained Stirling County to a 28-19 victory over Hawick on the opening day of the BT Premiership season.

Nick Grigg, the Glasgow centre, praised Hunter-Hill and the others who made the step up from club rugby to pull on the Warriors jersey.

He said: “I thought the new guys that came in from club rugby and the guys making their first appearance really stepped up, tried things that worked and got us those tries."
