A pair of East Lothian youngsters are among the Scotland under-18s rugby squad to take part in a training match this weekend.

Preston Lodge back-row Andrew Horne and Cameron Hutchison, from North Berwick RFC, have been included in the squad to take on the Scotland Exiles at Peffemill on Sunday.

The annual fixture will give head coach Ally Donaldson the chance to take a look at the 44-man group, before reducing their pool to a 26-man party for the Five Nations.

Among those selected is Cameron Redpath, son of ex-Scotland scrum-half Bryan, and Matt Fagerson, brother of 20-year-old prop Zander, who is part of the senior Scotland squad.

Donaldson said: “Sunday’s game is an important part of our preparations for our upcoming fixture against England and the 5 Nations tournament.

“It will give us a chance to look closely at the group of players who are available to us and help us select our final 26-man squad.

“We’ve been working closely with the home-based players and the Exiles and are keen to see them in a comparative environment.

"Some players have been unlucky to have missed out on this selection, but could still force their way into our thoughts."
