A former Loretto School pupil has secured a move to the English Championship.

Adam Sinclair, who was at the Musselburgh school for sixth form before leaving in 2011, has joined Rotherham after impressive performances during his two-year stint with French second division outit Albi.

Sinclair, who earned 14 caps for Scotland under-20s in 2012 and 2013, has also spent time on the books of Western Province in South Africa, and French outfit Perpignan.

And the 22-year-old second row will link up with another former Scotland age-grade cap, Robin Hislop, at Clifton Lane.

Steve Salvin, Rotherham forwards coach, said: “Adam is a big, physical player and we are delighted to have him with us.

“He’s going to be invaluable because of his size and we need Adam to help us through our current injury problems in our second-row department.

“He was keen to return to the UK after two years in France and I’m really pleased Adam has chosen us.”

And staff at his former school were delighted to hear of Adam's move.

Dave Burton, director of sport at the school, told Courier Sport: "Through a link with Loretto Adam went on to the Western Province academy, and then secured a contract with French side Perpignan.

"Adam was always passionate about his rugby and dedicated to his training.

"He showed a real desire to learn, push himself and follow his dream of becoming a professional.

"We are delighted to see Adam doing so well and hope that his move to Rotherham will be a successful step in his playing career and wish him well."
