Forrester 29 Dunbar 20

Dunbar suffered disappointment on the road on Saturday as they lost to Forrester in the Capital.

Head coach Mark Coull drafted in Steve Bisset, Barry Armatage and Paul McCloskey for the trip, with several first team regulars unavailable.

Dunbar also had four under-18s in their line-up, with Andy Taylor joined by Matty Pickles and Aaron McLellan in the starting side, while Thomas Salkeld was on the bench alongside head coach Coull.

The visitors made a poor start and fell 3-0 behind to an early penalty, before Ross Charlton's attempt at the uprights drifted wide.

Greig Patrizio, playing away from his usual back-row berth, at full-back, caused problems for the home defence out wide, and he grabbed teh game's opening try.

The Dunbar man used his power to barge over out wide after good work by the pack. Charlton' conversion made it 3-7.

Bisset went close for the visitors before Forrester took the lead shortly after through their first try of the afternoon.

Some poor Dunbar tackling allowed the hosts' hooker to crash over after good running by the Forrester backs.

The conversion was successful, meaning the home team led 10-7.

The hosts then kicked a further penalty to make it 13-7 before a Ross Charlton penalty ensured Dunbar were only three points behind at the break.

Dunbar were the better side after the break, and levelled the scores when Charlton kicked another penalty following good work by veteran Jamie Peters.

Forresters, though, grew into the match and scored once more after a pin-point cross kick.

The conversion, and a subsequent penalty, put Dunbar 20-10 behind, and the hosts' lead only grew as the half wore on.

Three more penalties was enough to secure the win for the home side, despite a try from Dunbar skipper Blair Mills, which Charlton converted.

He also added a penalty to make it a nine-point match but the county side were unable to get a losing bonus point from their trip.

The club will return to Hallhill on Saturday, as they take on Hawick Harlequins.
