Golf star Catriona Matthew reached a milestone earlier this week, after an eighth-place finish at the Kingsmill LPGA.

Matthew, the 2009 Women’s British Open winner, recorded her 100th top 10 finish on the LPGA Tour.

And the golf star from North Berwick produced an impressive performance to finish tied eighth overall, alongside Taiwan’s Candie Kung and American Lexi Thompson.

As a result of her eight-under-par finish, Matthew walked away with prize money in exess of $28,000.

The 45-year-old took to social media to express her delight at reaching the impressive landmark.

She tweeted: “100th top 10 @LPGA getting old... no I am already!” before praising her husband Graeme, saying she “couldn’t do it without his support”.

And her achievements earned praise from the likes of Judy Murray, with the tennis coach and mother of Grand Slam champion Andy passing on her congratulations.

She described Matthew (pictured, by Tristan Jones) as an “inspirational Scottish mum”, and said her achievement was “phenomenal”.
