The 2015 motorcycle racing season kicks off at East Fortune this weekend, when the Melville Club hosts the first two rounds of the Scottish ACU Championships and the keenly-contested club championships.

The full race programme, with almost 200 competitors, features some of Scotland's top motorbike and sidecar racers, and three out of the five 2014 Scottish champions are returning to defend their titles, including Andrew Tasker on the superbike and Gordon Shand on the sidecars.

Classes include Superbikes, Sound of Thunder, Superstock 600, Classics, Pre-Injection, Sidecars and Formula 125 There promises to be a battle of the East Lothian teenagers in the 600 classes between Lewis Rollo and Paul McClung, both having been the youngest ever Scottish champions in their previous classes.

They will be up against the two leading girl racers, Jodie Chalk and Sammi Tasker.

Other county riders to look out for include Mark Leonard, John McFarlane, Roddy Hutchison, Andy Dunnet, Barry Keith, Martin Harrison and East Linton newcomer Stuart Higgins.

A film show will take place in the marquee tomorrow (Saturday) night, for minimoto fundraising, featuring East Lothian's world champion sidecar racer Jock Taylor, and for fans of Classic bikes, Bill Simpson's race team of Ian Simpson and Robbie Burns.

Keeping spectators informed during the racing will be the resident commentary team of ex-sidecar racer Mose Hutchinson and Ian Robertson.

Bikes will be on the circuit for practice and qualifying from 9am on both days.

Admission is £10 for adults and is free for senior citizens and accompanied under-16s, and the paddock is open for everyone.
