A COUNTY sidecar duo went through almost every emotion at Cadwell Park, Lincolnshire last weekend.

After their recent success at Oulton Park in the Eastern Airways F1 British Sidecar Championship Haddington pair Davie Wrinn and Stuart Clark, otherwise known as Team Reywood (pictured below), faced a frantic weekend just to get through the qualifiers of the Battle of Britain F1 Sidecar Series.

After coming out the traps flying last Friday in their first practice, disaster struck later on in the afternoon when they were hit by terminal engine failure - meaning that unless they found an engine before racing on Saturday they would have to sit out the weekend’s racing.

With the help of their fellow teams they unearthed an engine early on Saturday morning and, with 10 minutes before the qualifying began, they heard the sound of a roaring engine.

Despite complications in qualifying, they started 23rd out of 27. With the problems fixed for the first race the pair raced well in the 12-lap race of 27 miles and gained five places to finish 18th.

The first race on Sunday saw further improvement as they flew around the track, taking corners on two wheels, resulting in a 17th place finish.

In the final race the duo finished in 18th despite recording their fastest lap time in what at times was ferocious racing with two wheels on corners or no wheels on mountain leaps.

Against quality opposition in world and European champions and with a standard engine, the county twosome can be pleased with their performance.

Next up for Wrinn and Clark is the Jock Taylor Superprix at Knockhill this weekend.
