A LORETTO Golf Academy student will line up at the a prestigious event next month after winning the Hong Kong Open Amateur and Mid Amateur Championships,
Yannick Artigolle, won the championships at The Clearwater Bay Golf and Country Club in bizarre circumstances.
Inclement weather meant only one round was possible, with the final day a complete washout, and the 16-year-old won with a score of 68.
He claimed victory by one shot from Chan Yu Wei, of Chinese Taipei, and Taichi Kho, who tied for second place.
Lou Tan, another Loretto Golf Academy student, finished one shot further back, in third.
Artigolle, who won the Albert KW Lai Junior tournament in the summer, won praise from Jonathan Hewat, the Musselburgh school's director of communications.
He told Courier Sport: "This is a remarkable achievement by Yannick. He is a talented golfer and certainly one to watch in the future.
"We wish him all the very best at the UBS Hong Kong Open.”
