<text> Play was suspended on day two of the Scottish Boys Championships at Dunbar on Tuesday morning, but the golfers returned to the course on Wednesday morning as the competition approaches its latter stages.

Play got under way on Monday, with 128 competitors taking their place in the field, and that was quickly whittled down to 64 by the time play started 24 hours later.

That did not last long, though, as play was suspended at 8.05am on Tuesday, while those who were out on the course restarted their rounds on Wednesday morning.

The round of 16 was to take place yesterday (Thursday), with the quarter-finals and semi-finals today (Friday) and the final taking place tomorrow (Saturday).

Previous winners of the prestigious event include former Ryder Cup player Andrew Coltart, European Tour player Steven O'Hara, and David Law, who went on to claim two Scottish Amateur Championship titles.

It is open to any male amateur who was either born in Scotland, has one parent or grandparent born in Scotland or can prove principal, permanent residency in Scotland for a period of three years, and has not played for any other country's international team at boys' level or higher, and who was under 18-years-old on New Year's Day.

Check next week's Courier for a report on the latter stages.
