Mixed bag for Seasiders

Edinburgh United 2 v 3 Dunbar United, Dunbar United 2 v 2 Sauchie Juniors

Dunbar FC enjoyed success away to Edinburgh and then shared points with Sauchie last week.

The Seasiders enjoyed a profitable first 45 minutes with a strong wind at their back. Ten minutes into the game Steven Girdwood got on the end of a long throw in from Stuart Laing and directed the ball over the line with his chest.

Ryan Gibb doubled the visitors" lead with an exquisite finish from all of 30 yards out.

In the second half, Dunbar went three up with a goal against the run of play, Adam Cheetham setting up Robertson for his 13th goal of the season.

Finlayson got a goal back five minutes later and added a second in injury time, but all three points remained in Dunbar"s possession.

Sauchie Juniors visited East Lothian last week for a game with little at stake, and both teams were significantly understrength.

Sauchie took an eighth minute lead, Jeffrey firing past Craig Cunningham.

Dunbar began the second half in very positive fashion, and a 57th-minute equaliser was no more than they deserved. Laing"s long throw in was cleared but returned his way and following his low shot the ball was kicked into the Sauchie goal accidentally by visiting defender McGuigan.

The sinner was redeemed when Sauchie went back in front eight minutes from time when he provided the cross for Jeffrey to net for the second time.

With 90 minutes up however another of Laing"s long throws caused havoc in the Sauchie danger area and Blair found the net at the third attempt.
