Musselburgh Athletic 5 v 1 Blackburn United

Musselburgh first threatened seriously just before the 20-minute mark when Chris King headed narrowly past the post, then a Paul Tansey shot flew across the face of goal and beyond the back post.

Blackburn had their moments but at times they found themselves on the back foot as Musselburgh pressed for an opener, with Danny Kelly, Paul Currie, Ryan McCallum and Iain Ramage all coming close before the hosts finally took the lead with the opening 45 minutes nearly over, McCallum finishing off a move down the left with clinical precision.

Sub Scott Devlin got Burgh"s second in 65 minutes, collecting Currie"s neat through ball before driving a low shot past United keeper Carlin. A generous penalty award gave Blackburn a lifeline three minutes later, Brown converting after Ramage had been harshly judged by the referee to have fouled in the box.

It took Burgh another three minutes to restore their two-goal lead through a second sub, Mathu King, who scored with a fantastic volley from McCallum"s cross.

Chris Gordon forced a great save from Carlin before King claimed his second goal with 15 minutes left, this time with a headed effort which was fumbled over the line by the keeper. Devlin hit Burgh"s fifth with a spectacular 25-yard shot as in the end they ran out very comfortable winners.
