A FORMER Musselburgh Athletic strike duo will be reunited in League Two next season.

Burgh front man Steven Thomson has agreed a deal to join Berwick Rangers, who have also signed Jordyn Sheerin from Livingston.

Sheerin netted 42 goals in his solitary season at Olive Bank, with his goals central to their run to the Scottish Junior Cup final a year ago.

The front man netted in the 2-1 loss to Auchinleck Talbot before signing on at Livi.

However, he was a bit-part player for the West Lothian men as they were relegated from the Championship last term.

Sheerin told Courier Sport: "I can't wait for next season and to get back out on the pitch.

"It was a great experience playing full-time at Livingston but personally I'd liked to have played more football.

"It obviously didn't end well for the team either, getting relegated."

But the 26-year-old was looking forward to being reunited with some Musselburgh Athletic team-mates at Shielfield.

Brian Martin, Graeme Beveridge and Robert Wilson were all part of the junior cup final squad 12 months ago, while Michael McKenna is another former Burgh player.

Sheerin added: "I still speak to them all. We've got a group chat, all the boys from that Musselburgh team.

"That was a big part in the decision, actually. It always helps when there are familiar faces when you're moving to new club."

The front man, who netted three times and made just 11 Livi starts, was hoping to rekindle his partnership with Thomson.

"There was competition between us – a friendly rivalry throughout the season – and I think he scored 26 goals that year.

"I obviously scored a few more but hopefully we can go on and do the same this year."

While Sheerin struggled at Livi, Thomson made 32 appearances for Burgh under the now-departed Stevie McLeish, and found the net on 11 occasions.
