EAST Lothian Swim Team (ELST) have finished as the 10th-placed club in the country following the 2025 Scottish National Age Group (SNAG) Championships, held in Aberdeen.
The championships bring together the best age group swimmers, representing more than 50 competitive clubs across Scotland.
This year, a team of 42 swimmers from ELST, which comprises athletes from home clubs of Haddington, Musselburgh and Tranent, competed.
In the male categories, Conner Aspinall (Haddington) had an excellent meet, bringing home four medals in the 16 years’ age group, including gold in the 800m freestyle, silver in the 400m and 1,500m freestyle, and bronze in the 200m freestyle.

Meanwhile, in the 17 and 18-year age group, Ross Anderton (Tranent) earned bronze in the 200m butterfly.
In the female 16 years’ age group, Zara Krawiec (Tranent) won silver medals in the 100m freestyle and 200m backstroke, while Isla Whetton (Haddington) earned bronze in the 50m and 100m backstroke.
In the 14 years’ category, Veronika Kariuki (Musselburgh) won bronze in the 200m breaststroke.
There was also success in the relay events as the 14-16 years’ female team won gold in the 4x200m and bronze in the 4x100m freestyle events.

There was also final success for Musselburgh’s Anna Lawson, Kate Nolan, Ross Winters and Frank Orsi, as well as Haddington’s Lewis Lothian, Celia Blair and Lucy Hall, and Tranent’s Tegan Black.
Jamie Ward, ELST head coach, was delighted with the club’s performance over the five days.
He said: “To finish as one of the country’s top-10 clubs for the sixth year in a row is a fantastic achievement for a club of our size.
“It is a testament to the hard work of the coaches and growing reputation of our programme, which is underpinned by the three home clubs of Haddington, Musselburgh and Tranent.
“We had fantastic performances throughout the team, especially from some of the younger swimmers making their debut appearance at SNAGs and several first-time finalists.”
