MEMBERS of East Lothian Swim Team (ELST) have returned home from a prestigious competition with 25 individual medals.

Swimmers were competing at the third and final round of the East District Age Group Championships (EDAGs) at the Royal Commonwealth Pool in Edinburgh.

The latest round of the championships focuses on events over 100m, plus the 200m individual medley (IM).

East Lothian swimmers performed particularly strongly in the 15-year-old age group, with a clean sweep of medals in the female 100m freestyle and 200m IM.

Tranent’s Zara Krawiec won five individual gold medals for the 100m freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly and 200m IM.

Meanwhile, Haddington’s Lucy Hall took home silver in the butterfly and IM, and a bronze in the freestyle.

Musselburgh’s Anna Lawson won silver in the freestyle and bronze in the breaststroke, while Musselburgh’s Kate Nolan achieved bronze in the 200m IM.

In the male 16-year-old age group, Tranent’s Ross Anderton won gold in the butterfly, silver in the freestyle and IM, and bronze in the backstroke.

Ismail Shalaby (Tranent) won silver in the backstroke and butterfly, while Conner Aspinall (Haddington) won silver in the IM and bronze in the breaststroke.

In the over-17s, there were silvers in the 200m IM for Tranent’s Calum Peebles and Tegan Black, with Eilidh Armstrong (Musselburgh) earning bronze in the backstroke.

In the younger age groups, Veronika Kariuki (Musselburgh) achieved bronze in the breaststroke, and Eilidh Fee (Tranent) and Ross Winters (Musselburgh) both took home bronze in the backstroke.
