SCOTLAND’S number one golf tournament returns to The Renaissance Club next July.

Forty-four tournaments across 24 countries will be played during the 2024 DP World Tour season.

Among those is the Genesis Scottish Open, which will be played in East Lothian for the seventh consecutive year.

In 2018, it was held at Gullane Golf Club and has found a home at the nearby Renaissance Club for the last five years.

It was already confirmed it would be returning to the course, by Dirleton, and DP World Tour has now announced it will tee off on July 11 – seven days before the 152nd Open at Royal Troon.

The Genesis Scottish Open, which was won this year by Rory McIlroy, will be one of five Rolex Series events – the premium category of events on the DP World Tour.

Councillor John McMillan, East Lothian Council’s cabinet spokesperson for environment, economic development and tourism, said: “Following on from the nail-biting conclusion of this year’s wonderful Genesis Scottish Open, I’m sure golf fans and local businesses will join me in welcoming the announcement of the date of next year’s tournament, which returns to the Renaissance Club.

“In my opinion there is no better venue for such a prestigious tournament as here on Scotland’s Golf Coast. Not just because of our stunning scenery and world-class golf, but all that East Lothian has to offer visitors in terms of hospitality and food and drink.

“It’s a huge boost to our economy both at the time of the event itself and in terms of raising East Lothian’s profile as a visitor destination.”
