LUKE List leads the way after the opening round of the Scottish Open at Gullane after the American scored seven under par as the event got under way today.

Compatriot Rickie Fowler, who won the trophy the last time the tournamet came to Gullane in 2015, is one of five players in the hunt one stroke back after a first-round 64, with Englishman Lee Westwood another in that group.

Fowler and Englishman Robert Rock set the early pace this morning, who is also on six under, together with Spain's Scott Fernandez and Swede Jens Dantorp.

One shot further back is Masters champion Patrick Reed, as is the highest placed Scot, Peter Whiteford.

Olympic champion Justin Rose is also well in the hunt at three under par.

However, another big name, five-time major winner Phil Mickelson, struggled and is currently on level par.
