A TEAM of rugby players stepped up their preparations for the new season at a 10-a-side tournament. . . in Poland!

North Berwick RFC sent a squad to compete in the Krakow Rugby 10s Festival.

The team, led by 1st XV captain Bhrian Buchanan, won their opening game against a Polish side before a loss to a team of ex-pats from the United Arab Emirates (UAE). They rounded off day one with wins over Plymouth University and a side from Germany.

Success continued on day two, with a victory over a team from Houston, Texas, putting North Berwick into the final. Their rivals from the UAE were again the opposition, but NB put in a much-improved display – ultimately a late try would cost them the game.

There was some consolation for the North Berwick team, as John Munro was named player of the tournament.
