HE is the Tartan Tornado by name and, like a tornado, Josh Taylor's performance in Glasgow this evening (Saturday) was destructive as h decimated Winston Campos in three rounds to retain his WBC Silver super lightweight title.

Taylor produced a near flawless performance as he made it 12 wins out of 12.

And the former Preston Lodge High School pupil said he was "very pleased" with his performance.

He told Courier Sport: "I'm pretty happy.

"I thought I found my range pretty early and once I got settled in I had sussed him out and it was only going one way.

"I'll take Monday and Tuesday off and [then] get back into the gym and keep myself ticking over."

Campos was a late replacement for Humberto Soto but almost from the first bell it was clear there was a difference in class.

The man from Nicaragua survived a big stumble halfway through the first round and was on the canvas just as the round finished.

Taylor was obviously buoyed by that and stepped up the pace in the second round.

Campos was down twice in the second round and was hanging on to simply make it into round three.

It was only a matter of time though and Taylor ended things early in round three, as pictured below. Image Jennifer Charlton Photoraphy

East Lothian Courier:

Campos again bravely rose to his feet but the referee had seen enough and waved it off.

It might have been brief but Taylor was emphatic in victory.

Attention turns now to fight number 13 - which promoters Cyclone Promotions confirmed is likely to be back at the SSE Hydro in June - as Taylor moves closer to a world title bout towards the end of the year.
