RUGBY star Chris Dean is "delighted" to have secured his future with Edinburgh Rugby until 2020.

The centre, from North Berwick, agreed a new two-year deal with the Capital club this week after scoring five tries in 17 appearances in all competitions so far this term – including a last-minute winner over Glasgow Warriors at Christmas.

The 23-year-old former Scotland age-grade and 7s internationalist said: "I’m loving my rugby at the moment and I’m thoroughly enjoying being a part of where this club is going.

"I’m excited to carry on improving under Richard Cockerill and will be looking to put my best foot forward for the club and the squad in the years to come.”

Dean, pictured below by Alastair Ross/Novantae Photography has so far made 59 appearances for Edinburgh since his September 2015 debut, and has scored 45 points through nine tries.

Richard Cockerill, Edinburgh Rugby head coach, was similarly pleased to have secured the 23-year-old on a new two-year contract.

He said: “We’re delighted that Chris has chosen to extend his stay in Edinburgh.

"He’s been one of our most consistent performers this season and is central to club’s plans moving forward.

“Chris is a young, talented player and he’s only going to improve in the years to come.”
