A TRIO of Musselburgh swimmers recently took part in the British Para-Swimming National Short Course Championships.

Christian Buchanan, Sam Downie and Neil Ferguson were all at the championships in Manchester and produced some excellent performances.

Ferguson, who swam in the S7 classification for 14-17-year-olds, won two gold medals – in the 100m freestyle and 50m butterfly – and claimed bronze in the 100m breaststroke.

Downie, meanwhile, won bronze in both the 50m and 100m freestyle in the S9 classification in the 10-13-year-olds’ category.

And Buchanan swam through illness on the opening day to achieve new personal best times in the 100m freestyle and breaststroke before withdrawing from the competition.

Their coaches and clubs passed on their congratulations to the trio on a “great experience”.
