And the ex-North Berwick RFC man will win his second cap in South Africa at the weekend, where the Scots are set to take on Argentina, Uganda and England in the pool stage.
John Dalziel, head coach, has called in Edinburgh Rugby pro Glenn Bryce to replace professional club-mate Darcy Graham, while Sam Pecqueur replaces Ross McCann.
Graham was named in the World Rugby dream team from Dubai after finishing as joint-top try scorer, and Dalziel admitted his absence - afte a recall by the Guinness Pro14 club - was a blow.
He said: "Darcy will be a miss but Glenn is an experienced 7s operator who was involved in both London wins and his inclusion will be a boost.
“Facing England again will be tough but it’s a chance for us to address some issues we created for ourselves last week and to show how we have progressed.”
You can follow Elms' progress live on Sky Sports from 9am on Saturday
