A HOST of county bowls stars are set to represent Scotland in the New Year.

East Lothian Indoor Bowling Club trio Yvonne Veitch, Dee Hoggan and Emma Logan have all been named in the Scotland senior ladies team that will participate at the 2018 Home International series.

The trio will be in action at Paisley IBC from March 9 to 11.
Meanwhile, former Wales player Joe Mower will don Scotland colours for a second successive year after being included in the gents’ under-25 team.

Mower, who lives near Haddington, will represent Scotland at the 2018 British Isles under-25 series in County Antrim, Northern Ireland, on the weekend of February 17-18.

Fellow Garden County team-mates Calum Darling, Lewis Betts and Dean Riva were also involved in Sunday’s trial match at Bainfield IBC but failed to make the final line-up.

This weekend, the gents’ senior international trial match takes centre stage at Paisley IBC.

East Lothian’s Mark Johnston and Billy Mellors will be involved on Sunday, while their county team-mates Derek Oliver, Scott Kennedy and Jamie Higgins are unable to attend.

They will still be considered for final selection, however, while icon figure Alex Marshall, from Tranent (pictured below) has already been pre-selected.

East Lothian Courier:

In addition, the Scottish ladies’ under-25 trial match takes place at East Fife IBC tomorrow (Sunday).

East Lothian has a double representation, with both Megan Kivlin and Beth Riva taking part in the event.
