EAST Lothian bowls ace Alex Marshall is out of the Scottish International Open after defeat to Les Gillett.

Four Scots will, though, compete in the semi-finals today (Friday) with the winners going forward to contest the final tomorrow.

Marshall will not add to his six titles this year after defeat to Gillett in the quarter-finals.

Tranent resident Marshall, nicknamed Tattie, raced into a 7-2 lead in the first set but the Englishman fought back to earn draw 7-7.

And in the second set, the 50-year-old county legend went 4-2 ahea before his rival won the next three ends to secure victory.

Today's last four line-up pits ex-Garden County star Paul Foster up against Michael Stepney, while Darren Burnett, a Commonwealth Games team-mate of Foster and Marshall, will play David Gourlay.
