UNDEFEATED boxing champion Josh Taylor is hoping to return to the ring later this year.

The Prestonpans star returned to London last week for a pre-fight training camp – but was still awaiting details of his 11th professional bout.

Taylor told Courier Sport: “Nothing is confirmed but I’m hoping it will be October – and if not then, November.”

And the 26-year-old admitted he had undergone a “brutal” first week in camp with coach Shane McGuigan.

He said: “I had a bit of time off after the last fight so it has been pretty tough.

“The next couple of weeks I’ll get my fitness back.”

Taylor also revealed he had cancelled a trip to Las Vegas, where he was set to watch Floyd Mayweather’s bout with Conor McGregor.

Taylor and girlfriend Danielle Murphy binned the trip when he was notified that he would soon be back in action.

Although disappointed, he insisted: “Work comes first.”

He said: “It was a shame because we were really looking forward to it.

“When Barry said that I’d be fighting, it was a no brainer really [not to go],” said Taylor, who refused to be drawn on naming a potential opponent.

“ “I’m just focused on getting in the gym, working hard and getting myself ready.”
