HADDINGTON middleweight Iain Trotter wants to "right the wrongs" of his last performance as he returns to the ring in October.

While Trotter retained his undefeated record after a 40-36 points victory over Borislav Zankov at the Braehead Arena in Glasgow in July, the 23-year-old was disappointed with his performance.

Immediately following the fight, he scored himself a "C or a D" despite a fourth professional win.

And this week, Trotter told Courier Sport he will return to the ring at the Meadowbank Arena on October 6, with a full card to be confirmed.

The former Knox Academy pupil is keen to make amends for his previous outing, and said: "I think it was a very fatigued performance and I was lackadaisical in some aspects which is not acceptable.

"There are maybe more positives to take than I first said, though – I won comfortably and was nowhere near my best so that's got to be a sign of where I am."

And after a busy schedule which saw Trotter cram in four fights since turning professional in March, Trotter has enjoyed a rest period, and is keen to get back in the ring.

"I am a fighter and that is what I want to do – a busy fighter is a happy fighter", he said.

Trotter added: "I just want to fight all the time and we're looking even beyond October 6 – I would like to get at least one other fight in before the end of the year.

"I'd been in one continuous training camp for the four fights so I needed some time off.

"I've been keeping training, but just not as hard, and now I can't wait to get started again."

The Haddington man, son of East Lothian councillor Tom Trotter, also hopes another two wins before the end of the year could see him push up the British rankings.

He added: "I'm currently 42nd in Britain and I would like to be in the top 20 by the end of the year, so that is a bit of a goal."

While Trotter's ring return still needs rubber-stamped, he is "almost 100 per cent" sure the fight will go ahead.

And when asked about an opponent, he said: "I don't really pay any attention to that.

"I let other people worry about potential opponents and I'm just in the gym and training hard."
