GULLANE-born Callum Hunter-Hill said he was "so proud" after leading Scotland U20 to an historic win over their Wales counterparts on Tuesday.

The 29-25 win, secured thanks to Darcy Graham's try three minutes from full-time, guaranteed the young Scots a best ever placing at the World Rugby U20 Championships.

They can finish no worse than sixth, with eighth in the last two years their best finish to date.

The win over Wales followed pool victories over Ireland and Italy, while finalists New Zealand are the only side to have beaten John Dalziel's charges at the championships this year.

And Hunter-Hill, a former Gullane Primary School and North Berwick High School pupil, was delighted with his team's efforts.

In a post on social media, he wrote: "So proud to be apart of this team, everyone from the players to the staff giving their all.

"One last push to do something special."

And there was praise from current senior Scotland captain, John Barclay...

The lock, who scored one of the four tries in the win over Wales, will now hope to lead Scotland U20 in the fifth-place play-off match against Australia in Tbilisi on Sunday.
